2. The Russian Sleep Experiment:
Toward the end of the 1940s, Soviet researchers sealed five prison inmates in an airtight chamber and dosed them with an experimental stimulant gas to test the effects of prolonged sleep deprivation. According to this fictional horror story the subjects started showing signs of stress and were overheard bemoaning their circumstances. As the days passed they started screaming and discontinued any kind of conversation. As they ceased communicating altogether the researchers decided to free them but their response was most shocking. They told the authority that they never want to be freed or sleep again. They went violent on each other and themselves and got killed eventually.
